Finds 1104: Etrian Odyssey V for 3DS

By : Luis Zena
So this is number 5! I'm lucky I've been able to get all the previous entries. This is an RPG done at your old school best! I gotta say, can't get any more old school than this. Ready to draw maps?

Ads from the past 406: Famicom 3D Glasses

By : Luis Zena
So the 3D Glasses were supposed to work with some games for the Disk System. It was a pretty cool peripheral but it felt flat and was only compatible with a few games. I say it's still a very interesting and ground breaking accessory. I would've bought one back in the day....I still need one for my collection.

Twitch Channel Reopened!

By : Luis Zena
So it has been some four months since I was streaming and that due to other things getting in the way. Well, those things are done for! I have set up my Twitch page once again and this time, with new gadgets! I was able to set up my computer with a new capture card called El Gato which works amazingly well for new and old consoles. I made a little video of how everything is set up even though I don't go into details, you can get the idea of what I'm trying to do.
I'm definitely excited. I already started streaming Secret of Mana remake for the PS4. Be sure to follow by clicking here! Stream on!

Ads from the past 405: Rockman

By : Luis Zena
The first entry of this amazing series was released on the Famicom. Rockman was just a platformer with a nice set of levels and addictive gameplay. I can say I've beaten this game, and believe me, it's not that easy.

Finds 1102: Rastan Saga 2 for PC Engine

By : Luis Zena
The second game in these series that sadly wasn't as good as you would expect. It's still good enough to get a physical version of the game instead of playing it on an emulator. Play it on emulator and be the judge.

Ads from the past 404: Famicom Classics

By : Luis Zena
Continuing the Famicom trend, here we have a bunch of art work from the classic releases of the Famicom. A lot of this artwork is from the classic games such as Donkey Kong and Mario Bros, even Popeye! I believe they are being advertised at around 15 USD, not bad if you get a minty boxed copy of these gems.

Finds 1100: Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and Terraria !

By : Luis Zena
Kingdom Hearts just needs to come out with their damn part 3 of the series. It's insane they are re-re-releasing all their games in compilation to try to make people wait longer. It's a horrible practice.... Also, Terraria is an interesting game. It's like minecraft but in a 2D World.

Ads from the past 403: Famicom Karaoke

By : Luis Zena
I didn't even know there was Famicom Karaoke! This is totally awesome and would love to see how it works. I wonder if I can find them on eBay. It is definitely a gadget for the entire family to have. Hey, maybe that's why they named it the Family Computer System. HA!

Finds 1099: Undertale Collector's Edition for PS4!

By : Luis Zena
This game is just hilarious. I gotta say, from all the new retro style games, this one has to be in my top 3. I should really start doing more gaming and lists for the top games of the month or something. I'm sure that would be a nice new twist on the blog. Anyways, this game combines RPG gaming and comedy and puzzles all in one! A must have!

Finds 1098: Axiom Verge Collector's Edition for PS4!

By : Luis Zena
This is a game that is quite good. It has a retro feel of course with exploration in a Metroid and Castlevania style. You can't go wrong with those two. The game has also been released for the Nintendo Switch. Definitely a must explore for the retro gamer.

Ads from the past 402: Mother 2

The sequel to the Famicom release was released for the Super Famicom and SNES in the USA. The game is what many considered what an American RPG should be like. It has a huge following and definitely needs a play through!

Famicom Blues Part I : The reason I game

By : Luis Zena
So let me start by saying that I didn't have much knowledge about the Famicom until years later after I started collecting. If my memory serves right, it must have been around the holiday season of 2004 in which I decided to buy a lot I had my eyes on eBay. I was so curious as I've played Famicom in the past but in another form. A very interesting form it took down in South America, Peru to be exact where the word Famicom wasn't as known, but more reffered to as Family or Max Play. This is where my love for gaming started to grown with fullfilment and curiosity.

But lets head back to the past, a long time ago in which I was very young, now that's a really long time. My passion for gaming wasn't as astronomical as it is today, but I did had my love for Nintendo ever since my parents introduced me to the console. I don't even remember if I asked for it or was it my parents who got me the console in one of their many ventures into the States. You gotta realize, I was residing in Peru at this time and was around six years old. That's as much as I remember from the early memories of my gaming life. Other than that, I still remember the first time I played the NES. It was an experience and feeling I will never forget. I will get into that in a little bit because we have to go even further ahead, well maybe not that far. Lets go to at least six or seven months back. I had a neighbor who which had the NES and remember very little of it. I do remember he had short hair but somewhat balding if that makes any sense. He was a good friend nonetheless as he would let me play video games as he had a NES and I did not. The funny thing is that I do remember the games! One of them was Double Dragon, I could get absorbed into that game for hours and hours. I remember I was never able to beat it in one of the many runs we had into the game. We would take turns and see how far we could reach, but alas we would always fail. Furthermore, we would end up playing the two player versus mode which by today's standards is laughable but we had so much fun. I would never understand why we had to use the same player in the versus mode. Today though, I understand that it was just lazy programming. Whether you like it or not, they could've done better especially with such a popular game. You can see another example by the lack of a cooperative two player mode which by the way the Sega Master System had. It was more than obvious that Sega had done this better than Nintendo but you gotta realize, I lived in a country where Nintendo was everything, and Sega was unheard of. I really didn't found out about Sega or other consoles years later and that's just impressive because it shows how powerful Nintendo was in our country.

The other game my good old friend who's name is Mauricio had was P.O.W. for the NES of course. I still remember trying to beat the first level and never getting far. I always loved the first scene where he's escaping and you have to beat up all the guys around you. Get weapons and what not was the game and survival was the goal. That was another game that I had no idea what I was doing. My experience was minimal but enjoyable overall. I also ended up seeing this game again in the arcade and found out years later that it was an arcade game that got ported to the NES. Of course, sacrifices had to be made to make it run on the 8-bit console. Arcades back then were the shit! It was definitely another world back then...

To be continue....
